Famous Flint designer Tyrone Kirkland dies at 56

FLINT, MI — A Flint man who made a reputation within the vogue business, gaining widespread consideration, has died at age 56.

Tyrone Kirkland died Dec. 31, in keeping with his obituary.

Kirkland was simply 21 in 1988 when he was employed to provide robes for the Ebony Vogue Truthful. His designs appeared on the runway alongside creations by Invoice Blass, Christian Dior and Gianni Versace, in keeping with a 2004 MLive article.

Later, he grew to become identified for his Flint vogue store TKO Designs.

He was well-known for designing fashions — and making the clothes — for highschool promenade attendees and brides.

“His signature enterprise, T.Ok.O. Designs, made native, nationwide, and worldwide waves for the style business as his distinctive and one-of variety designs had been seen on supermodels, celebrities, on tv commercials, runways, magazines, and newspapers across the states,” in keeping with his obituary. “If you happen to obtained a TKO design, you had been the showstopper for no matter room you entered. His slogan was this, ‘For the perfect in distinctive and custom-tailored designs simply name…Tyrone!’”

A funeral service is deliberate for 11 a.m. Jan. 7 at Hand of God Ministries, 3408 Miller Highway, Flint.
